Debate:  Can one create a new identity?

after the screening of “The Prince and the Dybbuk” by Elwira Niewiera, Piotr Rosołowski

In Polish only

Partner: Zwierciadło

In the middle of the sixties prince Michał Waszyński dies. During a grand funeral ceremony Rome bids farewell to an aristocrat and producer of Hollywood hits who cooperated with Orson Welles, Sophia Loren, Claudia Cardinale and many others. Though he is perhaps not a prince at all, just a pre-war Polish film director known for cheap and hastily shot popular comedies and tear jerker films as well as his only masterpiece – the mystical “Dybbuk”? Or is he just a poor Jewish boy: Moshe Waks, the son of a Volhynian smith? One man, and yet so many life stories. “The Prince and the Dybbuk” by Elwira Niewiera and Piotr Rosołowski is a good starting point for a discussion about how people seek and forge new identities, and what life looks like after such changes.
