Debate as part of the Filmoterapia z Sensem series: The condition of modern men

What kind of man is Charlie Siem? Is he searching for love and does he need it, or would he rather go through life without experiencing it? Is he happy? He leads a childish life centered on himself or does he squeeze the moment he has worked to achieve for years? When does a smile become a mask and what mask does Charlie put on every day and why? In what situations do we put on our own masks? What hides under this mask? What kind of emotions? Why is it so hard to look into them? What is healthy egoism, egocentrism, narcissism and what are the differences between them?

 

The debate will include:

Wojciech Elzenberg – psychotherapist, coach, trainer, business advisor. Co-creator and director of the Psychoimmunology Institute IPSI in Warsaw, he is mainly involved in prophylactics of burnout due to stress. His methods include integral therapy, which other than psychics includes the body, energy and spirituality of man.

Karol Jachymek – a cultural scientist associated with SWPS University of Social Sciences and Humanities, he works in social and cultural history of every day life and cinematography, and also the subject of film and other audiovisual messages as historical sources, he is also interested in the problems involved with the body, gender and sexuality.

 

Bartosz Szymczyk – psychologist, psychotherapist, family therapist, a member of the Polish Psychiatric Association, a co-creator of a research and therapy center  Ogrody Zmian (“Gardens of Change”)

 

Monika Wolińska – social psychologist, therapist from the SWPS University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Everyday she is involved in coordinating the project Youth Zone.

 

The debate will be conducted by:

Martyna Harland – psychologist from the SWPS University of Social Sciences and Humanities, graduate of the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School at SWPSand also the Warsaw Film School. She is author of the project Filmoterapia.pl. She is in charge of the section on film therapy in “Sens” periodical, where every month she discusses current film premieres with Grażyna Torbicka. She works as a culture journalist. She has created programs “Kocham kino” (“I love cinema”) on TVP2 (Polish television) with Grażyna Torbicka and “Hala Odlotów” on TVP Kultura.
